Residential conversion and extension of a vacant office building in Shoreditch Conservation Area. The upward extension creates a new maisonette within a contemporary lightweight roof extension.
The upside down configuration of the maisonette provides the primary living space with panoramic views across the City of London.
The change of use of the upper floors requires a phased approach to planning with permitted development rights used to get change of use from office to residential, overcoming the restrictive planning policy. The extension and external alterations used a full application following extensive pre-app engagement with local officers.
