C&PA have worked on a number of Victorian warehouses in this busy street, traditionally home to the rag trade. We were approached by the client to convert and extend this semi derelict building into a 14 apartments above ground floor retail units.
The conversion made use of the high ceiling and large windows to create airy and desirable living spaces. By retaining and exposing the existing cast iron structure and brickwork and installing new Crittal windows, the apartments retain the warehouse feel. A statement stair gives access to the upper floors.
In addition to the conversion a single-storey roof extension was added to the building. Set back from the street façade the large sliding windows and lead cladding provide a modern feel contrasting with the existing building.
C&PA provided a full service on this contract including working closely with the interior designer who went on to become a client.
