C&PA designed the Attlee Community Centre for the Attlee Foundation, founded to further Clement Attlee’s ideas of equality of opportunity. The centre is a multi-purpose children’s sports, play and learning centre in the heart of East London.
The brief was to provide a multi-purpose hall with associated seminar and workshop facilities, together with sports pitches, a sensory garden and a children’s playground. The sports pitches would be rented out to local groups to bring in revenue and to this effect a changing room was provided which gave access to the pitches without entry into the play areas. The hall was of sufficient height to enable internal sports activities such as badminton and opened onto the garden and play area with large glazed doors.
We were involved in the project from inception to completion working with the Foundation to develop the brief, to assist in fund raising and to engage with the local community.
